Thanks so much for your prayers for us. The past few months have been different for us as we are now caring for Lois\u2019 parents in their home in WV. Lois isn\u2019t traveling with\u00a0me, and I miss having her at churches where I minister. She struggles keeping up with the paperwork end of things (and that\u2019s why this update looks different and is\u00a0late). We know we are ministering in a different way and don’t regret it, but we miss our \u2018normal\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I get interesting feedback when I talk about \u201cHow the Bible changed the World.\u201d I try to answer the question of why Western cultures have more freedoms and prosperity than others. <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The short answer is: \u201cThe closer a person or nation follows a\u00a0biblical worldview, the more likely they are to have peace and\u00a0prosperity.\u201d\u00a0The\u00a0problem\u00a0is that other cultures are trying to function on a faulty made-up view of\u00a0reality. This talk contrasts Biblical thinking with Hinduism, Islam, Animism, Medieval\u00a0Catholicism, and secular Humanism, and shows that each one is a recipe\u00a0for a dysfunctional culture.\u00a0<\/p>

I find that the people who\u00a0respond the best to this talk are those who are from another culture or those\u00a0who have lived outside of our culture. Just last week a young\u00a0lady from\u00a0Argentina said that she understood exactly what I was saying. They didn\u2019t have a Protestant Reformation to\u00a0show them a contrasting Biblical way of thinking.\u00a0This young lady from Argentina said that her culture never developed a protestant work ethic where\u00a0doing a good job is praiseworthy. In her culture, she said it is the\u00a0goal\u00a0to try to do as little as possible and still get paid for it. This is one\u00a0example of how one way of thinking can mean the difference between a productive\u00a0culture and\u00a0an impoverished one.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Another concept I get a lot of feedback on is the idea of observational and historical science. Observational science is what we can see and experiment with, historical science is speculation about what happened in the past. <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t

The trouble is people often mix them together, and say \u201csee science says we can\u2019t believe the\u00a0Bible\u201d. \u00a0I was having a talk with my doctor the other day about what I do and\u00a0he was typically confused about science, being convinced that science\u00a0and the\u00a0Bible are incompatible. A quick explanation of the two types of science\u00a0seemed to clear things up.<\/p>

My wife was playing one of\u00a0my talks for her father who was in a rehab center recovering from\u00a0surgery. The man in the next bed was listening intently. He said that\u00a0idea\u00a0of two types of science really cleared things up for him. This idea\u00a0is so liberating for those who think we have to go with what modern scientists think happened, so we\u00a0can\u2019t believe what God said actually happened. The point is, the Word of God is Truth; we\u00a0don\u2019t have to be timid or ashamed about it at all.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
